The LGBTQ+ Library offers an expansive collection of resources and materials for both research and entertainment purposes. The Library's searchable online catalog allows patrons to find materials by keyword, author, or title.

Library Policies

  • Circulation Loan Periods

    No new materials will be checked out until any overdue items have been returned.

    Books: 4 weeks
    DVDs: 1 week (limit 4)
    Zines: 1 week

  • Returning Items

    Items may be returned in person to LGBTQ+ Culture Center staff or placed in the return box inside the office during normal business hours. Items (with the exception of zines) may also be returned to the Herman B. Wells Library or placed in the drive-up return bin on Jordan Ave. between the Theatre & Drama building and the Wells Library.

  • Screening Rights

    In accordance with the Indiana University Bloomington Libraries’ policy on Copyright and Licensing for Public Performance, faculty, staff, students, and community members are advised that educational fair use in copyright law allows films to be shown in private or within a classroom setting but not at advertised student organization events, whether or not there is a charge to view the film.

  • Replacement Fees

    In the event that an item borrowed from the LGBTQ+ Library is lost or not returned, restitution (not to exceed the cost of the item) will be charged to the patron. If one item from a set is checked out (example: video set) and not returned, then the cost of the whole set will be charged if the individual item cannot be purchased on its own.

    If items are not returned or replaced, a student's patron information will be sent to the Office of Student Ethics for consideration of disciplinary action after a final overdue notice has been sent, and charges may be applied to the student's bursar account.

  • Damaged Items

    All items are to be brought back in good condition (allowing for normal wear and tear). If an item is substantially damaged (e.g., water damage, missing cover, a scratch on a disc, or a page torn out of a zine), restitution will be sought equal to the cost of the item.

    Restitution may be handled by the Office of Student Ethics in the same manner as replacement of lost items.
